How I Work With You and Your Child

A clear, supportive approach for children and parents

When you notice that your child is not feeling quite themselves, it can be comforting to pause and explore together what might help. In my practice, I work with integrative child counseling and child coaching in Almere - a short-term and supportive process in which your child is central, with you as parents closely involved alongside them.

Step 1: Getting to know each other

The process starts with a free intake call and a questionnaire. This gives us the chance to get to know each other and see whether my guidance fits your situation. After that, I invite you for an intake conversation at the practice.

During this conversation, there is space for your story as parents. What do you notice in your child? What have you already tried? And what do you hope your child - and your family - can move towards? You know your child best, which is why your involvement is an essential part of the guidance from the very beginning.

Step 2: Individual sessions with your child

After the intake, I work one-to-one with your child in weekly sessions of about one hour. These sessions take place in a safe, warm, and playful environment, where nothing is forced and there is room to be curious and creative.

Through play, creative materials, metaphors, and visual tools, I support your child in exploring feelings, thoughts, and experiences. This gentle way of working helps children express themselves - even when words are hard to find. Step by step, space is created for understanding, processing and growth, always at your child’s own pace.

Step 3: Evaluation and next steps

After approximately five sessions, we plan an evaluation conversation together. I share what I have observed during the process and reflect with you on changes I see in your child and within your family.

Together, we look at how you can continue to support your child at home and whether additional sessions may be helpful. Decisions are always made together, in a calm and thoughtful way, based on what your child needs at that moment.
