You may hear your child say things like:
- “I get angry all the time, but I don’t know why.”
- “I don’t feel like doing anything.”
- “I’m not good at anything.”
- “I can't focus!”
- “Nobody understands me!”
- “I don’t dare to do that.”
- “I often have a stomach ache or a headache.”
- “I can’t sleep.”
- “School is stupid - I don’t want to go anymore.”
- “I don’t belong.”
- “I find it so hard to make friends.”
As a parent, you may notice that your child is often angry, sad, or insecure. Perhaps your child has trouble sleeping, learning, or connecting with other children. Or maybe something has changed in your family or life - a move, a new school, a new country, or another transition - and your child has lost their balance.
At Kindertherapie Martina, I offer integrative child therapy and child counseling in Almere for children aged 4 to 12 and their parents. This guidance is suitable for children who feel stuck in their emotions, behaviour, or thoughts - and for parents who want to better understand what is happening and how they can support their child in a loving and confident way.
I work closely with parents, because you play a vital role in your child’s emotional well-being and development. Together, we create clarity, understanding, and practical support - always at a pace that feels safe for your child.
Special focus: expat children, multilingual children & life transitions
I have a special focus on supporting expat families, international families, and intercultural families in the Netherlands. Growing up with multiple languages and cultures can be enriching, but it can also bring unique challenges - especially when children are learning a new language, adjusting to a new school system, or trying to find their place in a new environment.
Many expat children struggle with transitions such as moving countries, leaving friends behind, or feeling “different” at school. Parents may also feel unsure or lost within an unfamiliar system. In my practice, there is space for these experiences, without judgment or pressure to adapt quickly.
I support multilingual children in expressing themselves in ways that feel natural and safe. Sessions can take place in Dutch, English, or Czech, allowing children and parents to communicate in the language that feels most comfortable.
